Have you ever felt lost in the silence? Like God doesn't care? You cry out and hear nothing back. You pray for a miracle and it never comes. You pray and wonder why He won't or hasn’t shown up for you. But what if the silence isn't absence, what if, it's an invitation. An invitation for you to trust him. Trust Him in the struggle.
Ask. Seek. Knock.
You feel lost. You feel like He doesn't care. But Jesus (not just scripture) tells us to ask and it will be given, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 Jesus says "Ask and the gift is yours. Seek and you will discover. Knock, and the door will be opened for you." He goes on "For every persistent one will get what he asks for. Every persistent seeker will discover what he longs for. And everyone who knocks will one day find an open door." This isn't a passive waiting game, it's an active pursuit. It’s a fellowship. Come to Him boldly. Not timidly. Not with one foot out the door or ready to handle the situation yourself. That is why we end up waiting years. We get into our own way. Worship especially when you don't want to. Pray especially when it feels pointless. That's where the breakthrough lives. It’s in the obedience that doesn't make sense yet.
Remember What He Has Done
When the silence feels heavy, go back. Remember the prayers He answered. Remember the doors He opened. Remember the moments He showed up when you had nothing left to give, not even a tear to shed. Not just remember but speak it! Out loud.
This is a lesson I am constantly learning and trying daily to live. Be grateful. Remind my heart, be grateful. I also should mention, I fail every day in some way. I still complain. My ducks are not in a row. But I know where to take my mess when I have tried all my own ways and failed.God never fails. Not once. Not ever. If He has done something before, He will do it again. His track record is your evidence. Expect it again. Stop focusing on what feels like the waiting, focus and speak about what he has done before. The silence doesn't erase His faithfulness, it tests whether you'll stand on it anyway.
It might feel like He's distant, but where is your focus?
Ask yourself where is your focus? Turn your eyes back to the One who has been faithful every single time. Shift your focus back to your blessings. In the struggles thank you God because it leads me back to you and you give me peace. It does not need to make sense right now. Worship when it's hard. Pray when it's quiet. Seek him MORE when he feels far. That's where faith becomes real.
He has never failed you. He won't start now.
